Design

Design, layout, icons, and animation by 3Sixty Internet Ltd. Bibby has been designed with a 'content management system' in mind. It was important to plan a modular system to promote a variety of specific content in an efficient way.

Typography

Non system fonts

Gill sans light. A wonderful typeface designed by British type designer, letter cutter and sculptor, Eric Gill. The light version of the font gave the site a distinctive and clean feel with an air of authority in keeping with the professionalism of the Bibby Financial Services.

System fonts

Verdana Verdana Verdana, what's left to say about Verdana. Not much frankly, clean and over used but, with a choice of 5, you pays yer money and take your choice! Still our favourite...

Headlines are set in Trebuchet MS designed by Vincent Connare (1996). It's a humanist sans serif designed for easy screen readability. Trebuchet has been used to make headlines more distinctive.

Production tools

The graphics for this site were produced with Adobe Photoshop 7.0 on Mac OS 10.3 and Windows XP Professional. The walkthrough and home page slideshow were built with Macromedia Flash MX 2004 Professional. The code was written using Dreamweaver MX 2004 on Windows XP Professional and Mac OS 10.3 and Microsoft VisualStudio.NET on Windows XP Professional.

Server technology

This site is served by Microsoft Internet Information Server 6.0 on Windows 2003. It is managed by the Sitecore CMS (www.sitecore.net). It uses the Sitecore DT Search module for search and the Sitecore Newsletter module for newsletter registration and management.

Code

This site uses HTML 4.01 Transitional for page markup and CSS 2.1 for formatting. The forms are built with Microsoft ASP.NET 1.1. The instant quote function is built with JavaScript 1.3 and the W3C DOM Level 1 & 2.
