Funder announces plans to expand trade business with Mark Lindsay appointment
Specialist funder, Bibby Financial Services (BFS) has appointed Mark Lindsay as Managing Director of Bibby Trade Finance, as it announces plans to expand its lending capabilities in this area.
Mark – who has 17 years’ industry experience – took up the new role at the start of the month following three years as Head of Sales in the funder’s Manchester business.
He said: “I’m delighted with the new role and see this as a great opportunity to provide trade finance to aspiring businesses at a time where other lenders simply aren’t there to help in this area.”
Mark will report into Commercial Director, Edward Winterton.
Following trade roles at NatWest and Davenham, and sales positions at RBS and Aldermore; Mark joined BFS in August 2011 with the remit of developing the funder’s Manchester business.
He said: “Finance is critical to the Government’s plans to support businesses trading globally but companies need to look at the capabilities of funding providers carefully.
“Bibby Financial Services is by far the most forward thinking business I have worked for. We’re passionate about delivering for our clients and there’s an emphasis on providing great customer service at every level”, Mark added.
Edward Winterton said: “Our strategy includes significant growth of our trade finance proposition in 2014 and beyond. With Mark’s commitment, expertise and knowledge; he’s ideally placed to head-up this drive, and we’re delighted with his appointment.
“Unlike some other lenders in this space, we have truly international capabilities with 44 offices across 16 countries so we have the knowledge and skills required to provide this form of specialist funding.”
Although a national role, Mark will initially spend his time between Manchester and Banbury – the funder’s trade finance headquarters.
Mark continued: “BFS has dedicated sales people; committed relationship management teams and an experienced; knowledgeable operations function so we’re in a great position to support SMEs trading internationally.”
BFS is now looking to expand its trade finance team and will be recruiting over the coming months.
